Dorm Building Updates

Last November, we had a successful fundraiser dinner, “Night of Purpose,” where our generous donors raised the funds to build a new dorm building at Rancho La Hermosa Orphanage. This page is dedicated to sharing updates on our progress to keep you involved in the process.

This new dorm building will allow our home to take in 20 more kids off the streets.

FAQ

What will the funds raised go towards?

Funds raised are currently being used to purchase construction materials needed to complete the new dorm building, such as windows, doors, drywall, paint, electrical, plumbing, and the roof. Funds are also paying for skilled labor to complete the tasks which volunteer teams are not qualified to do.

Why are you building another dorm house?

Last year, smaller orphanages near us closed down. Those kids were transferred to the DIF holding facility, where they are living in tight spaces, without education or future prospects. We have the land, staff, and heart to take in more children. We can’t do this until we expand our facilities. There is a desperate need to house more children, and we feel compelled to expand our home!

What’s the status on the dorm house?

We are 70% complete! Thank you to the volunteer groups that came out and our dedicated construction team.

Does the Mexican government support orphanages?

No. All orphanages in Mexico are privately run and so Rancho La Hermosa Orphanage does not receive any financial assistance from the government. We are able to provide a loving home for kids in distress all because of our incredible donors!
