Rancho la Hermosa seeks to provide the best home possible for orphaned and abandoned children in the Baja region, where they can be transformed by the love of God while being equipped for life and inspired to love and serve their Heavenly Father
Dave and Shannon Edmondson from Orange County, California, partnered with Pastors Daniel and Aleyda Aguinaga from Primo Tapia, Baja California, Mexico, to open their first One Generation home, Ranchola la Hermosa. Rancho la Hermosa is nestled in beautiful hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean about 3 miles inland from Primo Tapia. Just south of Rosarito, it's only 45 minutes from the San Ysidro border. Like all registered orphan care facilities, children come to Rancho la Hermosa through Mexico’s child protective services (DIF). These kids have experienced trauma, abuse, abandonment, and deep sorrow. We want our children to not only survive but thrive! All who we are and all that we do revolve around the central heart of the home—to raise our kids with a deep understanding of God’s love. We believe children impacted by the power of His love will then significantly impact their future generations. The trajectory of their lives will be dramatically changed and the cycle of poverty and abuse will be broken.
Child abuse, neglect and abandonment are global issues that require immediate attention. With over 60 orphanages in the Baja region – the orphanages that exist are at max capacity and many do not have the children’s best interest at heart. Children survive, but rarely thrive. The dysfunctional structure of orphan care reproduces dysfunctional life habits and the cycle of poverty and abuse repeats itself.
UNICEF estimates there are more than 1.9 million abandoned children in Mexico (approximately 4%-5% of all Mexican children)
In Northern Baja’s area of Mexico alone, over 7,000-10,000 children live on the streets or in dangerous or abusive situations, and thousands more live in extreme poverty
Mexico does not have adequate social programs or finances to provide foster care programs or support to orphan care facilities
We have more beds to fill and room for more children to love on! But we need money for food and all that goes into making a home. Please contact us if you would like to make a monetary donation or if you would like to donate supplies or materials that help run our home!
